Shelby Nelson Eagle Project

September 9, 2008 at 12:20 pm · Filed under Uncategorized

Worldwide Book Drive is excited to announce that Shelby Nelson will be working on his Eagle Project with us. Shelby is from Clinton Utah. He is a Senior at Clearfield High, loves music and to play the trombone. He also likes to work with his hands. He loves welding and is in his third year in school. He and his family love spending time together at their cabin near bear lake.

Shelby shared of his thoughts and feeling about why he felt a book drive is a worthy cause for his Eagle Project. Shelby said, “The reason why I chose the book drive is because I had a hard time reading when I was little. I didn’t like to read. My mom tried really hard to help me. As I got older I had to read in school and I just want others to get a chance to read and to be able to have a chance to love it and to learn all that they can. Reading is good for the mind and I like it now. With the book drive I have a chance to help others get the chance to read and learn new adventures.”

Thank you Shelby. We are looking forward to working with you!

He is a black belt in karate, has played the violin for 7 years and he is starting the 7th grade at Farmington Jr. High.

His project was a huge success! He has collected 5,696 books. Those are
broken down into the following categories: 2,690 books for adults; 945
educational books; 964 books for children; 62 reference books; 280 juvenilebooks; and 755 books for recycling (preliminary count). Dallin decided to do a book drive, after learning about Worldwide Book Drive, because he felt the project could benefit thousands of people all over the world.
